August 2025 has been an amazing month for me

Please excuse the self indulgence but I’ve not had a month like this one, and want to record it somewhere. I’ve had lots of fun. Many many thanks to those who make live music happen.

This month started with playing two sets each day as part of the Melton Mowbray Folk Festival on the first weekend of August.

6 August, I sang at the Hiroshima memorial event organised by CND at the Peace Tree in Victoria Park, Leicester

We went to the Saltburn Folk Festival weekend 8-10 August 2025, and joined the amazing singarounds.

15 – 17 August 2025: on the Friday I opened the festival on the Neil Dawson stage of the MoiraFurnace Folk Festival, which was amazing.

I was joined during the Saturday, again on the Neil Dawson stage, by Fara Afifi who plays amazing fiddle so sensitively, and the beautiful harmonies of Alie Barnes – all with a special unexpected and mostly unplanned as we’d met the night before at the singaround.

Four of us The Unruly Crew supported the Saturday morning shanty workshop at the Moira Festival too.

31 August 2025 – singing Joan Baez songs as support at Kenny Wilson’s Highway 61 Revisited gig at the International.

and then on 3 September 2025 at Kev Hewick’s Botheration, Duffy’s Bar, Leicester

Lots of singing, and big thanks to those who put on the various festivals and events, I’m thoroughly enjoying myself 🙂
